Spectrum
The legendary psychedelic band Spaceman went defunct in 1991 because of the bad relation between founding members Jason Pierce and Pete Kember. Peter founded a new band, namely Spectrum. Pierce united the remaining members of Spacemen 3 in Spiritualized and continued the orchestral character of the band. Pete –aka Sonic Boom- Kember went on with Spectrum in a more rock oriented way, however he never denied the hypnotizing Spacemen 3 sound: heavy dark music with drones that grab you by the throat, swirling guitar sounds contrasted with thick layers of distortion and atonal textures that create an infinitely expanding sound of an alien beauty. Kember worked in the past with Stereolab and Yo La Tengo and members of My Bloody Valentine (whose score they also were in the latest ATP festival). Reason for this tour is the new Spectrum album coming out soon. Many agree that Spectrum is the true successor of Spacemen 3: live they are nearest to the wonderful floating psychedelic sound, they also play various S3 songs (after all they are written by Pete Kember). A concert for those who dream of a perfect trip and completely legal!

Cotton Club
Cotton Club is a good hidden psychedelic band from Lille. Spacemen 3 and 13th Floor Elevators are their major sources of inspiration, but they don’t shamelessly copy their idols. On their EP Between Drones and Daisies they bring music steeped in the dreamy reverb and finished with thin voices, a big sound with fog patches. To be discovered!
